Who We Are

History

Seattle Christian Schools was founded in 1946 by concerned parents and friends, who prayerfully pursued a Christian education for their children. SCS was the first evangelical interdenominational Christian day school in Western Washington. The school's first 18 students attended classes in the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle in the basement of a church. Two years later the school relocated to Georgetown, where it served students and their families for the next 18 years.

In 1966, the school moved to a campus in the City of SeaTac just miles from the busy Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Over the years as the airplane traffic and SCS grew, the school board saw a need for a new campus. Through a series of miracles, the Lord led Seattle Christian to accept an offer from the Port of Seattle to purchase the old school. Land in the crowded City of SeaTac was hard to come by, but the Lord saved a 13.7 acre farm just for SCS. The new Seattle Christian campus was built in 1997 with room for 800 students K-12, two ball fields, a soccer field, outdoor play area with a Big Toy, a covered play area, large gymnasium with attached auditorium, boys and girls locker rooms and a walking track.

We are just 30 minutes from downtown Seattle, with easy I-5 access.

School Sponsorship

Seattle Christian Schools is operated by the Seattle Christian School Association, an interdenominational non-profit corporation organized under the laws of Washington State. The schools are parent-sponsored and governed by a self-perpetuating board of not less than five members. They set policy and direct the schools according to the prescribed constitution.
